I've caught Rob's cold and I feel like crap
Life at the Hotel is chaotic as usual what with a semi-demented Executive Chef and a Sous Chef who's an ex-expediter from Olive Garden.
They've created a menu straight from the Olive Garden handbook and will completely sink the Hotel. I foresee the dining room closing within the next year and the Hotel losing a huge amount of money.
They've already screwed up several large banquets by ordering the wrong food, bungled the amount of people being served and all in all being fairly incompetent.
But, I, being a big fish in a small pond, am clinging to what little authority/power I have as a Union Shop Steward and a cook with 23 years of seniority at the place, which in the long run really means nothing to anyone and I could be tossed out on my ass at any time.
I have learned to be more confident about my cooking and I've taken on greater responsibilities there.
Unfortunately I also tend to be lazy and skate along as much as I can, it's far easier than actually working.
I'm tired, not sleeping well lately and now I'm sick. I think I'm diabetic, I'm WAY overweight and run out of energy all the time. I'm worried about my heart and I'm going to have to start doing something about all off this or I'm going to die much earlier than I anticipated and that won't be too much fun now will it.
